About The Position

Position Summary: The Shop Supervisor oversees day-to-day operations for employees and resources within assigned areas. Acting as a bridge between Operations Management and the shop floor, the Supervisor ensures production goals are met efficiently while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. This role provides direct leadership, performance management, and technical support to the mechanic and rotor repair departments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical degree/certification preferred.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years in a turbo machinery repair environment.
  • Proven track record in a supervisory or leadership role within a mechanical or industrial setting.
  • Thorough understanding of rotating equipment, disassembly/reassembly, and repair processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, product transmittals, and operational manuals.
  • Working knowledge of rotor balance theory and procedures.
  • Proficiency with standard office software; experience with legacy manufacturing systems is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • A customer service mentality regarding internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as production needs dictate.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior military experience or field service experience is highly valued but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead departmental mechanic and rotor repair activities, including the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of turbo machinery.
  • Coordinate with Operations Management and Production Control to execute schedules and meet delivery deadlines.
  • Implement methods to monitor and control efficiency levels; drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize workflows.
  • Participate in shop layout changes and oversee a comprehensive housekeeping (5S) program.
  • Establish monitoring procedures to reduce scrap and rework costs.
  • Utilize the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) system to eliminate quality issues based on data and employee feedback.
  • Enforce compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies and plant rules to foster a safety-first culture.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to resolve manufacturing, quality, or design challenges.
  • Hire, coach, and train a skilled workforce, creating motivational procedures to help subordinates reach their full potential.
  • Administer the Labor Contract and company policies; resolve labor disputes fairly to maintain a positive union-management relationship.
  • Manage employee performance, discipline, and accountability in coordination with HR and senior management.
