About The Position

The Shop Service Technician is responsible for performing safe, timely, and high-quality repairs on Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar equipment and machinery. This role supports daily shop operations and customer service by carrying out assigned technical diagnostics, services, repairs, and communications. The Technician upholds all safety standards and policies, manages their workflow to fulfill expectations and deadlines, and contributes to organizational excellence by completing timely and accurate work. Additionally, the Technician works closely with the Shop Service Supervisor, Product Support Representatives, Sales Representatives, and other team members to help deliver exceptional service and fulfill commitments made to customers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Safety focused with an ability and willingness to recognize and immediately mitigate any safety hazards or concerns.
  • Motivation to excel and improve in the trade.
  • Attitude and enthusiasm to be part of a safe, efficient, and united team.
  • Extensive Caterpillar equipment repair experience
  • Proficient with Caterpillar service software programs (e.g., Cat Electronic Technician, SIS Web, DBS and SIMSI)
  • Must have necessary hand, pneumatic, and electrical diagnostic tools.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, non-standard shifts, and on-call schedules to ensure customer needs are fulfilled.
  • Attention and focus on detail and quality.
  • Maintain a clean work area and contamination control expectations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize and support safe work practices with an expectation of zero accidents or injuries for themselves, coworkers, and customers.
  • Fully utilize safety resources, programs and policies.
  • Understand and execute daily work responsibilities and expectations.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with supervisors and customers as needed.
  • Contribute and support the development of coworkers and a united team.
  • Recognize, strategize, and execute on customer’s needs and expectations.
  • Diagnose electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
  • Accurately and effectively identify and order replacement parts and components.
  • Produce quality repairs.
  • Understand and fulfill efficiency requirements including flat-rate and productivity expectations.
  • Deliver accurate and timely project communications, service reports, core returns and warranty documents.
  • Contribute ideas and solutions to help with the development and continuous improvement of individuals and the organization.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
