About The Position

The Shop Project Technician performs duties in the shop associated with Southern States products for repair, refurbish or upgrade. The right candidate must be able to learn Southern States products and hold a level of product knowledge that allows for the accurate and efficient analysis of work needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years’ experience working with electrical controls, relays, or electronics.
  • Be self-sufficient at problem solving.
  • Candidate should have good electro-mechanical aptitude.
  • Reliable and dependable.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates, vocational degree or higher.
  • Three years’ experience working with high voltage substation equipment.
  • Knowledge of operating mechanism layouts and designs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete inspection of all returned SSL products that enter the service shop.
  • Disassemble and diagnose SSL products in order to determine how to repair, refurbish or upgrade.
  • Reassemble, repair, refurbish or upgrade the SSL products after the service quality team determines what the correct actions are to meet customer requests.
  • Test products and subassemblies for functionality and/or quality.
  • Assist service engineering and project management in the construction and erection of the mobile product line, to include:
  • Drill holes.
  • Touch up painting.
  • Mount SSL and other manufactures equipment onto the trailers.
  • Assist in testing and operation of the equipment mounted on the trailer.
  • Perform punch list and acceptance items as necessary.
  • Build any subassemblies or final assemblies as needed.
  • Assist engineering in developing, building or testing prototypes.
  • Inspect finished offerings for quality and adherence to customer specifications.
  • Set up and operate any Service Division tooling, equipment, fixture, etc., in accordance with current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality operation, using tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, ring gauges or similar equipment as needed.
  • Set up and verify the functionality of safety equipment as needed.
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices or products.
  • Maintain a clean work station.
  • Collect hazardous and non-hazardous waste in correctly labeled barrels or other containers and transfer to collection areas.
  • Clean scrap materials for recycling or reuse as necessary.
  • Provide advice or training to other technicians.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
