About The Position

The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces, mixing and applying industrial coatings, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or more
  • Typically, 0+ years of experience.
  • Experience wet painting using a gun
  • Ability to differentiate between colors
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees
  • Strong communication skills
  • Know the safety in painting.
  • Able to Reading & writing in English
  • Knowing how to paint in industrial or heavy commercial painting.
  • Knowing the types of blast. (near white, white or commercial).
  • Know how to hand blast.
  • You will have to shovel shot at times
  • Knowing Ambient Conditions on when to paint & not to paint.
  • Know how to read a wet mil gauge & take wet mil reading.
  • Know how to repair paint guns.
  • Able to repair pump if needed or if having trouble with pump or paint gun knowing on what to do.
  • Able to lift 50 to 60 lbs.
  • Knowing how to clean paint pump & paint gun out.
  • Operate overhead cranes.
  • Drive a fork-lift.
  • Able to follow instructions (verbal & writing).
  • Able to work different shifts & overtime when needed.
  • Willing to work wherever needed.
  • Able to work with others & work as a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by removing existing coatings using masking, grit blasting, or chemical rinses
  • Clean, smooth, and dry surfaces prior to the application of paint
  • Measure, mix, and prepare paints and coatings according to job specifications
  • Use tools such as viscosity cups, thickness gauges, and gloss gauges to verify paint quality
  • Apply primers, intermediate coats, and finish coats using spray equipment, airbrushes, stencils, rollers, or brushes
  • Select appropriate application tools and techniques based on surface type and project requirements
  • Operate painting equipment safely while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including protective eyewear and self-contained suits when necessary
  • Clean and maintain work areas following completion of painting tasks
  • Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous chemicals and materials in accordance with safety and environmental guidelines
  • Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot painting equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Performs other duties as required.
