SHOP MANAGER – Lead a High-Performance Diesel Shop
About The Position
Farmington, NY • Full-Time • $70,000–$80,000/year Leonard’s Express is looking for a proven Diesel Shop Manager — someone who knows how to run a shop, lead technicians, and keep a fleet in top condition. If you’ve managed a diesel shop or served as a foreman and you’re ready to take ownership of a high-performing facility, this is your opportunity. This isn’t a “sit behind a desk” role. Requirements
- Experience as a diesel shop manager or foreman (required)
- Strong leadership presence — you set expectations and hold the team accountable
- Ability to coach, train, and develop technicians
- Advanced knowledge of Class A heavy diesel trucks and reefer trailers
- Strong communication skills with drivers, techs, and operations
- Scheduling, workflow planning, and productivity management experience
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Excel
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
Nice To Haves
- Experience with TMT, TTP, or shop scheduling systems
- technical schooling or ASE training is a plus
- CDL-A is a bonus
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day shop operations for a busy Class A truck & trailer facility
- A team of technicians who rely on you for guidance, training, and support
- Communication between the shop, drivers, and operations to keep freight moving
- Safety, quality, and productivity standards that protect our people and our brand
- Scheduling, workflow planning, and performance metrics to maximize shop output
- Parts inventory oversight, stock control, and purchasing decisions
- A clean, organized, professional shop environment that reflects the quality of your team
