About The Position

This position is responsible for managing all shop functions for a new build and for retrofit projects in the Prototype Shop.

Requirements

  • 10 yearsprototype shop experience with at least 3 years supervisory experience
  • Must have manufacturing technical skills
  • Should have experience with computer aided diagnostics and operation of Class 6-8 trucks, alsopossessesan in-depth understanding of heavy truck subsystems
  • CDL and Military background a plus.
  • Essential Functions include but are not limited to: Ability tolift upto 50 lbs. on a regular basis, squat, kneel, push, pull, and walk and stand.
  • Travel 5% when necessary
  • US Person

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical or other related certifications a plus
  • Experience with commercial heavy-duty vehicles and/or defense vehicles preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manages shop technicians and their schedulesto ensureappropriate staffinglevels to meet build timelines.
  • Works closely withengineering leadershiptoestablishtimeline(s)for multiple projects to ensuretimelycompletion.
  • Reads engineering blueprints and schematics andassistswith developing work instructions fornew programsand projects.
  • Ordersconsumablepartsand suppliesproactively to ensure all items are available per the project timeline, and ensuresappropriate inventoryismaintainedfor ongoing needs.
  • Proactivelyprocuresnew vendors as needed.
  • Managesshipping and receivingactivitiesto ensure all S&H functions are managed efficiently and incompliance withITAR/FAR/DFAR regulations(under the guidance of the Export/Import Regulation Compliance Managerand other company compliance managers asassigned).
  • Managesshop equipment and toolsto ensureappropriate toolsare available as needed and aremaintainedin safe working order.
  • Managesshop safety requirementsin compliance with company policy and OSHA regulations.
  • Plansforand troubleshootsissuesto ensure all projects stay on schedule.
  • Provideshands onassistancewith some mechanical systems.
  • Assistwith installation, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of prototype or production vehicle systems
  • Support customer demonstrations, field evaluations, and training activities asrequired.
  • Builds and coaches a staff who are sufficient and qualified to successfully perform all assigned duties. Utilizes best management practicesin accordance withHuman Resources.
