For the last 10+ years, John Grace Restoration and Construction has been West Michigan’s choice for mitigation and restoration repairs following property damage. We are here to help homeowners recover from storm, mold, fire/smoke, water, and flooding damage. Our staff are experts in the insurance claim process. We work in the customers best interest and guide them through the claim process. Purpose of the Shop Manager Assistant Role As a Shop Manager you are taking ownership of helping to restore homes for the communities of people we serve. It is your responsibility to keep the shop organized and manage equipment and tools. You will provide support to the Shop Manager and Project Managers by ensuring product availability and deadlines are met. Role Details: This is a full-time position based from our Comstock Park location but will help manage our Muskegon and Kalamazoo shops as well. You'll be working 6am-3pm. You will report directly to the Comstock Park Shop every day and be dispatched to the other locations on a daily basis per the Shop Managers direction. Approximately 2 days a week will be spent at the Comstock Park shop, 2 days a week at the Muskegon shop and 1 day at the Kalamazoo shop. We are looking for someone who Has 2-3 years of on-job experience in a verifiable construction role. Can function in a high stress environment that can change daily. Has excellent communication, time management, delegation, and multi-tasking skills. Has strong technological capabilities. Has a clean driving record and enjoys driving Has experience driving a truck and pulling a trailer

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move items over 75 pounds.
Must have a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
Must pass a criminal background check to perform work on insurance related claims.
Basic knowledge of smartphone/email technology.
Experienced and comfortable driving a truck while pulling a trailer.

Responsibilities

Organize and maintain the shops, equipment and tools
Acquire needed job materials for PM’s
Make job site deliveries as needed
Attend project hand-off meetings with Estimator/Project Manager
Effectively communicate with staff to ensure product availability and deadlines are met.
Ensure all expenditures are appropriately applied to job costing
Must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of construction and job-site safety
Communicate effectively with subcontractors/vendors
Think creatively and problem-solve in the moment
Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
Ensure John Grace process is KBA and consistently followed
Work week is typically 40-45 hours a week, not expected to exceed 50 hours during busy times.
