DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform routine preventative maintenance on mechanical handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, sweepers, etc.) Document records of maintenance, inspections, and repairs. Select repair parts and update parts records. Repair mechanical damage and replace defective parts, which may include welding, brazing, and soldering. Repairs are made to mechanical handling equipment, racking, floors, plumbing, piping, and other warehouse structural components Maintenance and repair of batteries and chargers. Apply mechanical skills and knowledge to troubleshooting and repair of electrical, plumbing, pipe fitting, fabrication, building construction, and other warehouse maintenance/repair situations. Reads and interprets schematics, drawings, and other diagnostic aids in the scope of troubleshooting, repair, and fabrication work. Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Familiar with mechanical hand tools, and with measuring (tape measures, micrometers, drill gauges, etc.) Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines. Comply with OSHA Safety and Health regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Routine lifting of parts weighing 40 - 50 lbs. Occasional lifting of parts weighing up to 100 lbs. Frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, working overhead, besides, and underneath equipment or in racking. Work on ladders, elevated platforms, and in confined spaces May experience a variety of temperature and weather conditions (i.e. outside in Winter and Summer). Works in noisy environments (wearing hearing protection). You must wear protective clothing such as safety glasses, goggles, welding helmet, gloves, etc. Exposed to dust, exhaust fumes, oil, grease, and other materials associated with the warehouse and related equipment. These are the primary tools used for nearly every mechanical task, from changing oil to replacing a battery. Socket and Ratchet Set : A standard set typically includes 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive ratchets with metric sockets 8mm-19mm and SAE sockets ¼-7/8. Combination Wrenches : These feature an open end and a boxed end. Essential sizes generally range from 8mm to 19mm and 1/4" to 13/16" . Screwdriver Set : You need a variety of Phillips, slotted (flathead), and sometimes Torx or starhead drivers in different lengths. Pliers Assortment : A basic kit should include slip-joint, needle-nose, diagonal cutters, and locking pliers (often called Vise-Grips) for stubborn bolts. Hammers : A 16-ounce ball-peen hammer is standard for metalwork, while a dead-blow hammer or rubber mallet is used to strike parts without damaging them. Work Light/Flashlight : Magnetic LED lights are highly recommended to illuminate dark engine bays and hands-free undercarriages. Telescoping Magnet : Invaluable for retrieving dropped nuts or bolts from hard-to-reach areas. Pry Bar Assortment : Used to pry out motors and wheels. Tool Storage Box: Used to store tools
