About The Position

HMT Tank is looking for a Shop Inspector to perform inspections at a fabrication shop.
The Shop Inspector must be able to read prints and written instructions as well as follow verbal directions as required to perform duties and responsibilities as listed below. Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb. Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time.

Requirements

• Certified Welding Inspector or equivalent certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of piping systems, pressure vessels, and fabrication processes.
• Familiarity with Non-Destructive methods (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT)
• Familiarity with ASME Section VIII, API 510/570/653, AWS D1.1 and related standards
• Minimum 5 years of inspection experience in oil and gas or heavy industrial fabrication
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and Isometric drawings.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect fabrication and assembly of piping systems, pressure vessels, and ensure compliance with Inspection Test Plan according to the client’s requirements.
• Verify compliance with ASME, API, AWS, and client specifications
• Ensure dimensional checks, weld inspections, and material verification are complete.
• Review shop drawings, welds procedures, and quality documentation.
• Document inspection results, issue non-conformance reports, and follow corrective actions.
• Collaborate with shop supervisors, client, welders, and engineers to resolve technical issues.
• Ensure adherence to safety of the shop and industry standards.
