About The Position

The Shop Foreman plays a critical leadership role within the manufacturing environment, overseeing daily shop floor operations to ensure efficient production and high-quality output. This position is responsible for managing a team of skilled manufacturers, coordinating workflow, and maintaining adherence to safety and quality standards. The Shop Foreman acts as a key liaison between management and shop personnel, facilitating communication and problem-solving to meet production goals. They are instrumental in implementing process improvements and training initiatives to enhance team performance and operational efficiency. Ultimately, the Shop Foreman ensures that manufacturing processes run smoothly, deadlines are met, and products meet or exceed company and industry standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in manufacturing or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and safety standards.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
  • Must have thorough understanding of GDT and print reading
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T, with the ability to interpret and apply complex specification
  • Experience with ERP system management
  • Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements that increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of shop floor personnel to meet production schedules and quality standards.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to resolve production issues and implement process improvements.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate shop staff to develop skills and promote continuous improvement.
  • Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and materials to ensure availability and proper maintenance.
  • Prepare and maintain production reports, work orders, and documentation to track progress and performance.
  • Identify and address operational bottlenecks or equipment malfunctions promptly to minimize downtime.
