SUMMARY The Piping Shop Supervisor is responsible for all activities pertaining to the assembly, safety, quality, monitoring, packaging, etc. for all piping fabrication that comes into the shop. The Piping Shop Supervisor plans, directs, and coordinates prefabricated/prepackaged systems through final delivery to the yard laydown area for delivery and will assist shipping and receiving when necessary. The objective of this position is to 1) maximize our potential for prefabrication/prepackaging; 2) help company realize a profit that meets or exceeds expectations by reducing production costs and at the same time increase overall productivity ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. (This description may change as more Manufacturing is added and processes need to be modified.) Collaborate with piping pre-construction personnel on spool sheets for assembly Attend required meetings Manage and prioritize work daily/weekly to meet construction schedules, Review all hand drawn spool sheets/drawings for all information required to build Ensure the shop is stocked with consumables needed for daily operations. Monitor all materials being delivered to the shop making sure they are correct, and quantities are correct Evaluate tools for assembly, make sure we have the proper tools to enhance productivity. Constantly find ways to refine our processes to increase quality and productivity. Re-evaluate manufacturing area for best flow of work Shop Supervisors will be responsible for all QC inspections on all products leaving the piping shop Perform regular QA/QC inspection on manufactured items coming into manufacturing Reinforce established QA/QC standards and inspect manufactured/assembled items for conformance prior to shipment. Responsible for all required pressure testing of piping, T-O-L’s, hose kits, etc Ensure the shop has the right WPS for current shop welding procedures Ensure all shop welders have the correct certifications for welding that needs to be completed Maintain current welding procedures and welder certifications Responsible for maintaining weld mapping of all spool sheets and retainage of spool sheets May be required to estimate and/or help estimators and PM’s at times Must be able to bill customers that work directly with the shop Keep track of what fab is currently in the shop and what is incoming Review of current fab personnel to determine if we have the correct skill level and right mix in the shop Supervise all employees for productivity, quality, attitude, etc. Hire employees as needed Counsel and terminate per company policies Mentor, train, praise and discipline as necessary. Answer questions from the shop employees in a timely manner Notify tool maintenance for any needed repairs on equipment Have a MiG welding certification at a minimum Must have the ability to draw in isometrics and sketches for fabrication Have some experience in structural design and fabrication Help with design, kitting, packaging, etc. Send completed material drawings to the shipping and receiving department to organize packaging and shipping of materials Schedule outside trucking vendors when needed Manage/assist loading piping onto trailers when needed Put together bill of laden for outside delivery services Inspect shop and yard daily for organization Conduct safety meetings Adjust in time clock as needed Visit jobsites when required to assist with determining scope of work
