NorthStar Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Mechanic Shop Foreman to lead a team of approximately eight mechanics in a fleet-focused shop environment. This role requires a hands-on leader with extensive experience in heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and equipment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to maintain high standards of safety, productivity, and repair quality.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on heavy-duty diesel experience, including diagnosis, maintenance, and repair.
  • Proven ability to train and mentor diesel mechanics in a shop environment.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with experience managing work orders and repair timelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical certification in heavy-duty diesel technology, preferred.
  • Prior supervisory or lead mechanic experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise daily shop operations, assigning and prioritizing work for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Enforce all shop safety policies, ensuring a safe work environment, proper tool usage, and consistent housekeeping standards.
  • Provide technical leadership by assisting with diagnostics and guiding complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and drivetrain repairs on heavy-duty units.
  • Oversee DOT compliance, including management of DOT repair work orders and verification and sign-off of DVIR repairs.
  • Supervise parts ordering and vendor coordination, determining when repairs should be completed in-house versus outsourced.
  • Identify equipment abuse or recurring issues and work with the Equipment Superintendent to develop corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for shop personnel, including training, mentoring, performance evaluations, and participation in hiring decisions.
