About The Position

Venture Dynamics is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Shipyard Project Manager to oversee repair, maintenance, and modernization projects for Navy and commercial vessels. This role directs, coordinates, and supervises all phases of project execution, ensuring compliance with schedule, budget, quality, documentation, and regulatory requirements. The Project Manager serves as a primary point of contact for technical, administrative, and operational communication and must be capable of managing complex, multi-trade ship repair projects in demanding industrial environments. Per diem may be available depending on contract requirements and travel distance.

Requirements

  • Shipyard experience is mandatory
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or project management experience in ship repair environments
  • Strong understanding of Navy vessel repair standards, specifications, and industrial processes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with scheduling or financial tracking tools preferred
  • Strong communication, leadership, and analytical abilities
  • Ability to obtain DBIDS or facility access as required
  • Ability to work safely in shipyard and shipboard environments including ladders, confined spaces, and uneven surfaces
  • Must pass background and drug screening
  • Ability to travel as required

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, project management, or related discipline
  • Experience with AutoCAD or capacity-planning tools
  • PMP certification or equivalent professional credentials
  • Experience supporting trials, testing, or classified Navy work
  • Experience leading multi-trade teams in complex industrial projects

Responsibilities

  • Manage ship repair and modernization projects from planning through completion
  • Serve as primary interface with government authorities, client representatives, and internal leadership
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, cost estimates, work packages, and risk mitigation plans
  • Oversee daily production execution, progress monitoring, and formal reporting
  • Ensure compliance with Navy, Coast Guard, OSHA, and maritime regulatory requirements
  • Maintain project budgets, financial tracking, forecasting, and cost-control discipline
  • Coordinate production teams, subcontractors, and multi-trade shipboard activities
  • Ensure quality assurance and verification of work against drawings, specifications, and technical standards
  • Manage procurement needs, material coordination, vendor support, and logistical requirements
  • Identify schedule delays, technical issues, or risks and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate documentation, structured file systems, and consistent use of project management tools
  • Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and communication with all stakeholders
  • Promote strong safety culture and enforce adherence to all safety protocols
