About The Position

The Shipping Team Lead oversees daily shipping operations and leads a team of shipping associates to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient order fulfillment. This role is responsible for coordinating workflow, maintaining safety and quality standards, and supporting continuous improvement within the shipping function

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 year’s experience of shipping, warehouse, or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of shipping processes (unloading, verification, staging, documentation)
  • Proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF scanners
  • Forklift, pallet jack, and material-handling equipment operation (certifications preferred)
  • Ability to read BOLs, packing slips, purchase orders, and inventory documents
  • Understanding of inventory control, cycle counting, and putaway procedures
  • Knowledge of LTL/FTL freight handling and dock operations
  • Familiarity with product labeling, barcoding, and lot/serial tracking
  • Strong attention to detail for accurate receiving and inventory movement
  • Experience conducting safety talks and encouraging safe work habits
  • Experience onboarding and training employees in receiving and warehouse processes
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting of up to 50 pounds, moving up to 200 pounds.
  • Full-time position with regular working hours, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as acting supervisor in the absence of the supervisor or manager, coordinating with freight carriers, preparing bills of landing (BOLs), and managing unexpected operational changes
  • Lead, train, coach, and motivate shipping associates on procedures, safety standards, and equipment operation
  • Assign daily tasks and manage workflow to ensure accurate, on-time shipment of orders
  • Monitor team performance, productivity, and accuracy; provide ongoing feedback and coaching
  • Oversee picking, packing, labeling, staging, and loading outbound shipments
  • Ensure compliance with shipping procedures, safety regulations, and quality standards
  • Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including BOLs and export paperwork as required
  • Coordinate with carriers, production, and internal departments to resolve shipping and operational issues
  • Investigate and resolve shipping discrepancies, damages, delays, and inventory variances
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping environment
  • Track shipping metrics and report trends, issues, and improvement opportunities to management
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks
