About The Position

Shipping Supervisor for Cement plant near St. Louis, MO. Supervises all shipping employees on the three-shift operation. In charge of river dock loading, truck/scale and train. Directs the packing, loading, weighing and shipping of cement, in trucks, railcars and barges in accordance with daily delivery schedules. Makes daily inspections of machinery and equipment in order to maintain efficient operation; checks inventory daily. Makes recommendation to Quality Manager regarding equipment problems, personnel problems or safety concerns. Understands and uses ASTM Specifications and NIST Handbook on Weights and Measures. Maintains direct contact with Sales Office and customers in regard to cement deliveries. Deals with customer complaints that have to do with shipments. Deals with vendors who come onsite to work on production or material handling equipment. Investigates and reports on accidents involving employees and equipment. Promotes and enforces safe working practices and good housekeeping. Maintains current knowledge of collective bargaining agreement and related plant policies. Seeks opportunities to promote and instill an attitude of cost and profit consciousness. Continues self-improvement activities especially in the area of rail, barge, and bulk load-out operations or improved techniques for supervising hourly employees.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution is required
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience.
  • Good communication and language skills
  • Good organization, human relations and decision-making abilities
  • Experience or educational background in maintenance of production equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Cement industry experience preferred.
