About The Position

The Shipping Supervisor oversees daily operations of the shipping department in a fast-paced, regulated fulfillment pharmacy specializing in compounded prescriptions. This role ensures all outbound shipments are processed accurately, safely, and in compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, while maintaining high standards of efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in shipping/logistics, preferably in a pharmacy or healthcare setting.
  • 1+ years of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy fulfillment operations, especially compounding and regulatory standards.
  • Strong understanding of shipping software, logistics platforms, and inventory systems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment with high attention to detail.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise shipping department staff, ensuring proper training, performance, and compliance with SOPs and pharmacy regulations.
  • Coordinate and monitor daily shipping schedules for timely delivery of prescription and compounded medications.
  • Oversee packaging processes to ensure product integrity, temperature control (if applicable), and patient safety.
  • Work closely with pharmacy, fulfillment, and customer service teams to ensure seamless order flow and resolution of shipping issues.
  • Maintain shipping logs, tracking reports, and regulatory documentation (e.g., chain of custody, temperature logs, manifests).
  • Manage relationships with shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS) and negotiate service terms when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve order discrepancies, delays, or damages.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure packaging materials, labels, and documentation meet quality standards.
  • Monitor shipping inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed.
  • Implement continuous improvement practices to streamline processes and reduce shipping errors.
