About The Position

A shipping and receiving supervisor oversees the daily flow of goods into and out of a company's warehouse or distribution center. They manage the shipping and receiving team, enforce safety standards, and ensure the accurate and timely processing of all shipments.

Requirements

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Education: A high school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS), SAP and Microsoft Office.
  • Soft skills: Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead the shipping and receiving staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Delegate tasks and assign daily workloads to team members.
  • Foster a safe and organized work environment by enforcing company policies and safety procedures, such as forklift operation guidelines.
  • Oversee all aspects of outgoing shipments, from order picking and packing to weighing and loading trucks.
  • Work with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pickups, track shipments, and resolve delivery issues.
  • Create and audit shipping documents, such as bills of lading and packing slips, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage the receiving process for all incoming shipments, including unloading, sorting, and inspection.
  • Verify incoming goods against invoices and purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate with procurement and quality control departments to address any issues with received products.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records by conducting cycle counts and coordinating physical inventories.
  • Oversee the proper storage and organization of materials and supplies within the warehouse.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between physical inventory and system records.
  • Communicate with various departments, including sales and customer service, to coordinate on logistics and resolve any issues.
  • Manage the departmental budget and monitor costs related to shipping.
  • Use warehouse management systems (WMS) and shipping software to track and manage shipments.
