About The Position

The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for final product packaging, planning, controlling, and improving shipping and receiving processes and material movements to ensure conformity of products and materials. This role ensures that inbound and outbound logistics activities support on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, product integrity, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Associates degree preferred or High School diploma and 5 years’ experience with warehouse management within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Previous Supervisor experience in a similar work environment. Possess good communication skills and the ability to work with others to achieve desired results.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures as they relate to material flow.
  • Strong background in computer skills. Must be computer literate. Proficient in MS office applications.
  • Forklift and box truck operation experience – certification required or obtainable.
  • Literacy in English.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation, staging and shipments to customers and to remote warehouses.
  • Oversee finished goods inventories with regard to finished receipts, storage, issue and the appropriate material handling involved. Oversee the organization of the finished goods areas.
  • Initiate and follow-up on, inbound and outbound, freight claims.
  • Initiate or approve purchase requisitions for required supplies to support shipping activities.
  • Assist in final inspection to assure smooth flow of materials through Shipping Department.
  • Assist Production Control Manager to plan and support maximum effectiveness of shipments to remote warehouses.
  • Recommend staffing adjustments, equipment improvements and safety improvements.
  • Supervises Shipping, Receiving and Warehousing personnel who handle all aspects of material flow, including training in applicable job and quality system procedures, coordinating work, monitoring performance, providing formal and informal performance feedback, handling disciplinary actions, communicating company policies, etc.
  • Ensure accuracy of and conformance to applicable ISO 9001 quality system procedures and related documents. Identifies resources required for effective operation of the quality system and recommends improvements to appropriate level of management. Implements preventive and corrective actions and participates in internal quality audits as appropriate.
  • Ensure training records and qualification assessments are maintained in accordance with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Ensure shipping and receiving processes are defined, implemented, and maintained in accordance with documented procedures.
  • Ensure team members are properly cross trained in all department functions to maintain operational flexibility.
