About The Position

Since 1977, Aircraft Specialties Services Inc. employees have enjoyed stability and unmatched compensation even in the most challenging economic times. That stability rests on our position as the global leader in quality and customer service within the general aviation industry. The Shipping and Receiving Specialist is the master control center for our entire operation. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the customers’ expectations are met from the time we receive the part until the part leaves the facility by coordinating with all of the departments and the customer to meet deadlines and ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Read and interpret customer instructions to ensure proper work is performed
  • Coordinate with other departments to meet customer expectations and deadlines
  • Ability to learn and use in-house computer programs
  • Ability to identify part numbers and aircraft engine parts
  • Must be able to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Working knowledge of mathematic operations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  • Read, write, and speak English
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Range of motion to bend, squat, and perform other basic movements
  • Collaborative work ethic - The SRS will work with other team members to ensure each part is handled with care and the work performed meets customer expectations. The SRS must be a team player who is committed to drawing the best out of themselves and their teammates. This requires a willingness to answer questions, work with others to solve problems, and at times, receive constructive criticism from supervisors.
  • Interpersonal communication - The key to collaboration is communication. Interpersonal communication is a free exchange of thoughts, feeling, and ideas through verbal and non-verbal methods. It is imperative that the SRS possesses the ability to communicate with the rest of the team in a way that fosters teamwork, trust, and a shared commitment to producing a good product. The SRS must be able to maintain their commitment to effective and collaborative communication even in times of extreme stress.
  • Stress management - Every person in every job will experience stress from time to time. The SRS will feel that stress when the workload increases and the pressure is on to meet deadlines and customer expectations. Stress cannot be avoided, but how a person manages stress can help to mitigate the damaging effects it has on the individual and on the organization. The SRS must be able to maintain a strong work ethic regardless of the workload or the pressure they feel from management and outside forces.
  • Time management - The SRS will experience varying workloads depending on the day. For this reason, the SRS must be capable of managing their time effectively. Every part begins and ends its journey through our shop with the Shipping and Receiving team. If the SRS falls behind in their work, the rest of the shop suffers and the customer has an airplane spending additional time on the ground. That is why the SRS must have excellent time management skills.
  • Organizational skills – The SRS will be responsible for receiving and shipping customer parts every day. Every part must be checked in properly to ensure the correct work is complete. Equally important is ensuring every part is shipped securely with the proper paperwork.
  • Attention to detail - The SRS is the person to complete the paperwork that determines the actions taken by the rest of the team as the part moves through the shop. It is critical that the SRS pay close attention to detail and maintain the high standards set forth by Aircraft Specialties Services and our customers.
