About The Position

Performs clerical and physical tasks in connections with shipping goods of the establishment and receiving incoming shipments. Verifies materials shipped are as ordered, routes outgoing shipment to appropriate destinations/locations. Prepares freight for shipment according to established documented procedures

Requirements

Must have a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Able to demonstrate complete understanding of shipping and receiving system
Able to keep neat and organized within warehouse environment
Requires organized individual who can maintain delivery schedule so that customers are satisfied and production remains on schedule
Must have good communication skills to make arrangements with customers, carriers, and management
Should have familiarity with computers
Basic Mathematical Skills
Analytical and attentive to detail
Must be able to read and understand written and verbal instructions in English
Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or outside the warehouse), mechanical abnormalities, and similar risk situations during warehouse operations

Responsibilities

Verifying the accuracy of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against the bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records
Checking for damaged goods
Insuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishments
Preparing and keeping records of goods received
Keep work area neat and organized according to 5S standards
Check doors for availability of empty trailers and report to Supervisor
Check tags for any issues before loading a trailer
Scan pallets/totes at dock plate when hi-lo driver brings them to the dock
Ensure that all scanned tags are pulled
Writes the dock number, carrier and trailer number on the load ID
Check all tags in the envelope before taking the completed load into the office
Check all pallets for any quality issues such as: torn tags, broken pallets, torn wrap, or damage to stock
Returns UDI scanners to the office at end of shift
Report to Supervisor any issues that may arise
All other duties as assigned
