About The Position

Join Advantech, Ottawa, IL as a Shipping & Receiving Clerk, where you’ll play a key role in keeping our finished goods inventory accurate and our products moving efficiently to customers worldwide. Reporting directly to the Shipping Supervisor, you’ll own the full lifecycle of our inventory – from daily cycle counts and stock additions to quarterly physical counts and annual audits. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; minimum 1 year of experience in shipping, receiving, or a related manufacturing/warehouse role
  • Basic math proficiency: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals across various units of measure
  • Computer proficiency with the ability to navigate multiple software platforms and communicate effectively via email
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions accurately
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in inventory counts, documentation, and labeling
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
  • Solid organizational and time management skills with a proactive, self-motivated work style
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills; able to work collaboratively across departments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with UPS and/or FedEx online shipping software
  • Forklift and/or pallet jack certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire
  • Experience with inventory management systems or ERP software

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, pack, and process outgoing shipments for customers and internal departments, ensuring proper carton sizing, adequate packing material, and secure sealing
  • Apply shipping labels, air bills, and all required carrier or department documentation accurately to each package
  • Operate shipping systems and carrier platforms (UPS, FedEx, etc.) for domestic and international shipments, including all customs documentation and waybills
  • Maintain and update physical inventory records; add new stock to proper bin locations and verify quantities for accuracy
  • Weigh and document all new finished goods products individually for entry into the Inventory Management system
  • Conduct daily cycle counts, quarterly physical inventory counts, and support yearly inventory audits
  • Fill material requisitions for other departments and process the appropriate paperwork
  • Coordinate with non-regular carriers for package pickups and pricing; organize packages per carrier specifications
  • Process all outgoing mail through the postage meter; deliver outgoing mail and retrieve incoming mail from the post office twice daily
  • Maintain shipping supply inventory using a kanban system; reorder materials as needed
  • Provide accurate weight quotes to Customer Service for freight charge determination
  • Communicate proactively with the Customer Service team and escalate any questions or concerns to the Shipping Supervisor or Director of Operations
