About The Position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.  Shipping: Prints sales orders and collects, prepares material for shipments. Determines method of shipment. Call shipping companies to arrange pickups. Prepare shipments in appropriate method based on weight, size, and distance.  Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet carrier specifications and to eliminate transit damage. Creates and affixes required shipping labels on cartons such as packing slips, bills of lading, UPS labels.  Must be proficient in internet based shipping. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items for outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records. Packs parts and assemblies for shipping per customer procedures and in such a way to prevent damage. May be required to assemble parts by reading work orders, following production drawings and sample assemblies, or receiving verbal instructions. Receiving: Compares identifying information: counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, purchases orders, or other records. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with account representatives to rectify damages and shortages. Performs receipt transactions within 24 hours of receipt. Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies Occasionally assist unloading / unloading of trucks as required. Warehouse: Operates lift truck, power fork truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area. Manage material flow in such a way that first in, first out is achieved. Design and layout Material Storage in such a manner to minimize waste (space, time, effort) Safety:  Storage of material to minimize possible injury and meet 5’S standard philosophy. Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. Kanban Management: Implement Strategic part management:  easy of job pull, space, time. Apply shortages to necessary job pulls. Monitors inventory bins for count accuracy. Sets up storage racks and implements part identification systems. Determine containers, locations, and signals to make assembly and machining processes more efficient. Kitting Job Pulls: Develop various solutions, cards, signals, list, shelves, and locations to best serve the internal customer. “Just what they need, just when they need it.” Using BOM or pick tickets, accurately pull parts for assigned production order in organized, timely and efficient manner to meet timeline requirements. Deliver kits to multiple value-added processes that need those items just when they need them. Use continuous improvement to meet and exceed the company objectives of delivery, quality and productivity. Packaging: Packages parts for customers according to operation sheets in a way to prevent damage. Requirements

  • Must be able to get certified for use of power fork truck.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two years related experience as a Material Handler. Detail familiarity with the materials, tools and methods of all parts processes for all Value Streams.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to present numerical data effectively and write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees within organization.
  • Ability to count accurately, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations.
  • Possess Basic Computer skills and knowledge of Internet software, word processing software and Inventory software.
