About The Position

The Shipping Order Selector selects, stores, packs, and monitors the inventory of products and equipment. Performs tasks related to the shipping and transporting of customer orders. Securely packages materials, items, and parts that are to be delivered to dealers and/or end-users as well as various items being delivered with a radiator. The Shipping Order Selector will accomplish these assigned tasks by utilizing various schedules as well as by the direction of the Final Supervisor. They obtain items and parts on the plant grounds with industrial lift trucks and other material handling equipment. They receive specific work assignments under general supervision and resolves most problems with limited to no supervisory assistance. The Shipping Order Selector must use extreme care at all times when operating equipment and is expected to practice and adhere to the Company’s Six Sigma principles.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand schedules, job requirements, shop drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to operate industrial equipment including lift trucks, power hoists, cranes, etc.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and the ability to follow safe work practices.
  • Ability to use a tape measure and other basic measuring tools.
  • Ability to use saws, nail guns, shrink wrapping equipment.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
  • Two or more years with picking and packing parts.
  • Forklift operator certification.
  • Driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of material handling or related experience is desirable.
  • Related technical training (high school or beyond) is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews job orders (written or verbal) and determines schedules based on availability.
  • Responsible for picking parts out of warehouse inventory, and coordinating resolution of shortage and/or damaged parts with other IEA staff and IEA contractors if required, to fulfill customer orders and meet schedule dates.
  • Moves materials from storage to Ship Loose Department using power equipment (e.g., industrial trucks, power hoists) or, when appropriate, by hand.
  • Lays out all hardware, items, and parts for Quality Control Inspection prior to packaging.
  • Reviews Customer Order Schedule utilizing Shop Trac.
  • Enters data into companies operating system as required.
  • CSI Submits ECNs when required.
  • Submits MRR’s for any rejected material.
  • Loads/unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks and shelves or into or from vehicles.
  • Installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent in-transit movement or damage.
  • Ability to use overhead crane.
  • Bags units as required.
  • Counts/records units moved or handled; attaches material/product identification tags/labels.
  • Uploads picture documentation into customer orders.
  • Assembles crates and pallets for material/product storage and/or shipment.
  • Cleans and maintains work area (daily), material handling equipment and other tools/equipment.
  • Works in a safe manner at all times.
  • Ensures that all work is done in accordance with and adheres to IEA’s ISO and Quality standards.
  • Assist Shipping, Final Assembly and Materials Departments as schedule allows.
