About The Position

As Shipping Lead at Pratt Industries – San Antonio, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Shipping Manager and Supervisor by assisting with daily reporting, load planning, and warehouse management. You’ll be involved in monitoring inventory, ensuring accurate documentation, and recommending improvements to logistics. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where safety, quality, and timely delivery are top priorities to ensure our customers receive the best service possible.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Lift Truck Operator License is required

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with prior experience in the Corrugating industry and 6 months’ experience in a shipping/logistics role are preferred.
  • Proficiency in utilizing computer-based inventory systems and performing calculations for metrics like trailer utilization and OTD.
  • Identifying and resolving discrepancies in orders or malfunctions in warehouse equipment efficiently.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks in a warehouse setting. Specific vision abilities required for reviewing documentation and labels.
  • A Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
  • Dedication to maintaining equipment and production area cleanliness
  • Leadership in training and assisting fellow team members, including machine operators and helpers.
  • Active participation in meeting production schedules and resolving challenges proactively

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety protocols, ensure forklift inspection sheets are reviewed daily, and maintain a clean, organized warehouse environment.
  • Assist with load planning by combining orders and scheduling deliveries in the most cost-efficient, time-saving manner while meeting customer expectations.
  • Support the Shipping Manager with daily reports (Backlog, OTD, Trailer Utilization, Dispatch) and monitor inbound/outbound distribution. Serve as backup for the Shipping Manager.
  • Investigate customer complaints regarding shipping and resolve issues related to delayed or damaged goods in coordination with Customer Service.
  • Manage warehouse inventory counts, audit controls, and accurately prepare Bills of Lading (BOL) and packing lists using computer-based systems. Must follow FIFO inventory practices.
  • Conduct shift overlap meetings, train new employees on shipping procedures, and provide coaching and performance feedback to the team.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service regarding product delivery and submit maintenance work orders for equipment repairs as necessary.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.
