About The Position

The shipping clerk is responsible for performing various clerical duties that are required to accurately receive, maintain and distribute materials and coordinating the shipment of finished product. The shipping clerk works effectively as a team contributor on all required tasks, works independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees.

Requirements

• Function as a team player
• Accepts constructive criticism from supervisor/manager
• Multi-task and work well under pressure
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English
• Demonstrated basic mathematical aptitude, skills in basic mathematical calculations
• Understands quality, PPE requirements and safety and the importance of complying with safety policies and procedures
• This position requires a high school degree or its equivalent; at least one to three years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and file shipping documents
• Generates BOL (bill of lading) for outbound freight
• Schedules LTL (less than truck load) with LTL carriers
• Performs check-in of inbound freight
• Completes daily cycle counts of finished goods
• Verifies loading documentation and check for accuracy
• Notifies the supervisor of any issues with shipments
• Makes recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the job, efficiency, quality and quantity.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
