About The Position

The Shipping Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely movement of goods in and out of the facility by managing shipping documentation, coordinating with carriers, and supporting daily logistics operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys detail-oriented work, problem-solving, and being a key point of contact in a fast-paced environment, while gaining exposure to plant-wide shipping and transportation processes. As part of the logistics team, the Shipping Clerk directly supports production and distribution by maintaining accurate records, resolving discrepancies, and keeping shipments moving on schedule. This role is located at our plant in Houston, TX. The schedule will be Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm with occasional Saturdays, during season. The pay rate for this role is $23.07 per hour.

Requirements

• Must have at least one-year experience in Transportation or Logistics industry
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Experience with E-1 preferred, but not required
• Forklift Operator Experience preferred
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Good understanding of LTL shipments, Bill of lading, and PO processing.
• Good record keeping and organizational skills
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Assure orders and shipping quantities match picking documents through careful audit of said documents.
• Prepare reports, manage shipping schedules, and perform other administrative tasks.
• Assist in resolving any discrepancies.
• Help with or complete special projects at the discretion of the Lead or Supervisors.
• Answer and route all telephone calls in a polite manner, taking messages and routing to proper individual in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with carriers to schedule pick-up of goods.
• Prepare accurate bills of lading for outbound freight.
• Assist in training new associates.
• Other duties as assigned
