About The Position

The Shipping Clerk will support Shipping management by monitoring the Shipping schedule while checking drivers in and out. Also, assist Shipping Dock Management and Leads with workload distribution such as calling orders down and sequencing loads. Assist Shipping dock with Shipping Dock functions such as loading cartons/pallets/parcels, pallet build, catwalk, metering, and product flow coordinator.

  • Must be able to operate radio frequency equipment.
  • Experience with Company customized computer systems.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • CAL OSHA certified on a Reach, Order Picker and/or Turret Truck, Pallet Jack equipment (if applicable).
  • Ability to contribute hands on.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures, e.g., safety.

Responsibilities

  • Update SOPA with arrival time, dock door assignment, driver info (DL#), trailer info, detentions, swaps, special circumstances, etc.
  • Update and maintain Shipping Yard Report
  • Create and print Loading Instructions
  • Read Loading Instructions thoroughly, fill out accurately and legibly and include necessary documents such as packing list, customer supplied labels, etc…
  • Review Bills of Lading (before & after signing/dating legibly/correctly) check all data is accurate, complete, and legible, cross reference with SOPA (quantity, carrier, customer, etc.)
  • Inform Shipping Parcel Handling Clerk of parcels and express shipments arrival and departure when needed.
  • Coordinate with Traffic Dept. on documents needed to complete check out such as 7512, bill of lading, PRO’s, seal numbers, etc.
  • Invoice Bill of Ladings with ASN’s restrictions and when directed.
  • Coordinate with Shipping Management and/or Leads/Key Person for Dock Door assignment.
  • Inform Shipping Dock Management and/or Leads/Key Person of available loads to start.
  • Assignment of trailers when needed.
  • Run Shipping Yard Report
  • Update changes in PKMS system
  • Inform Traffic Dept. of any damaged trailers with attached pictures.
  • Invoicing ASN customers when noted and when directed.
  • Daily filing of Bill of Lading copies and Loading Instructions
  • Empty filing cabinet weekly and label by day and month for archives
  • Pull paperwork for research purposes when directed by Management.
  • Inform LP Dept. of seal inventory.
  • Replenish office supplies daily.
  • Inform Administrative department of any copier or printer needs.
