About The Position

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing shipments in a warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing facility. This role ensures accurate documentation, proper handling of goods, and timely movement of materials while maintaining inventory accuracy and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or logistics preferred
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory or warehouse management systems
  • Ability to read shipping documents, purchase orders, and packing slips
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift certification
  • Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems
  • Knowledge of shipping carriers (UPS, FedEx, freight companies) and shipping software

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming shipments and verify contents against purchase orders, packing slips, or invoices
  • Inspect deliveries for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly
  • Accurately record received goods into inventory management systems
  • Prepare, pack, and label outgoing shipments according to company and carrier requirements
  • Schedule shipments and coordinate with carriers and delivery services
  • Maintain organized storage areas for received goods and shipping materials
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, or forklifts (if certified)
  • Maintain shipping and receiving logs, records, and documentation
  • Assist with periodic inventory counts and audits
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies
