About The Position

The Shipping Clerk is responsible for ensuring that customer orders are ready for shipment on-time and in full (OTIF). She/he is responsible for tracking, picking, preparing, and recording the shipment of outgoing finished products according to established procedures (SOPs), customer specifications, and the transportation method used. This position may be required to drive a forklift at times and may also be required to use a pallet wrapping machine.  This position may be the primary backup for parcel shipping, pallet wrapping, domestic replenishment, and receiving.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Must possess good time management skills to ensure timely completion of duties while navigating potential added duties/requests.
  • The knowledge and skills required for this position are typically acquired in 9 to 12 months of experience in a warehousing/distribution environment.
  • Must have a valid forklift license.
  • A comprehensive understanding of GMP, OSHA, FDA and other related guidelines and be able to apply.
  • Must have familiarity with all facets of warehousing/distribution.
  • Must possess good mathematical aptitude (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
  • Must be able to read and write business English.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must possess good organizational ability.
  • Must be computer literate in a Windows environment (i.e., basic data entry).
  • Willingness to accept other duties, as assigned.
  • Must possess the ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, internal and external customers, function as a team player, accept constructive criticism from management and comply with Company policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior ERP and WMS experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing a hand-held bar-code scanner, pulls and prepares customers’ orders for shipment in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Prepares shipping documentation for each shipment, verifying that the paperwork correctly reflects the product ordered and picked.
  • Learn and understand multiple areas of Domestic distribution, including but not limited to small parcel, replenishment, pallet orders, pallet wrapping, and receiving.
  • Notifies Manager, Distribution and/or Group Leader, Distribution when issues arise which would impair the ability to pick and prepare customer orders for shipment (i.e., over-allocation, inventory inaccuracy, equipment failure, etc.).
  • Communicates with Group Leader and other appropriate departments regarding the status of customer orders and/or inventory shortages.
  • Collects information for damage claims on in-transit damage/shortage.
  • Monitors the condition of department equipment.
  • Notifies Group Leader when department supplies need to be re-ordered.
  • Assists in loading and unloading trucks, as needed.
  • Packs and prepares for shipment less than full case quantities of finished product, as well as any other items which need to be packed for shipment.
  • Moves material utilizing a hand truck, pallet jack, or forklift.
  • Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities, as may be required by the Manager, Distribution.
  • Performs inventory counts, when needed.
  • Assists in inventory rotation to ensure FIFO inventory usage.
  • Supports the Winner’s Circle process.
