DEFINITION Shipping Clerk is responsible for monitoring the merchandise leaving the warehouse including creating shipping documents, such as invoices and purchase orders and pulling inventory from the shelves. Once an order has been filled, the Shipping Clerk is responsible for monitoring each shipment to make sure that outgoing packages are packed correctly and accurately. The Shipping Clerk then needs to print shipping labels, schedule pickups, and ensure that each package has the proper postage. Shipping Clerk must also reach 100% accuracy in shipping UPS/FedEx/UPSP/Will Calls orders in appropriate time frames. Must perform double counts for LTL shipments to ensure accuracy in the shipping of products to the customer. Also, the shipping clerk must be able to create and maintain accurate Standard Operating Procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Shipping Clerk Shipping o Gain a strong understanding of the business’s parts and supplies. o Ability to the pull the entire product offering for small package shipments § Learn our shipment processing system in Acumatica. § Learn the different methods of freight and carriers to ensure low cost methods. Including Flat rate, and area discounts. o Meet or exceed the expected shipping accuracy for small packages. o Meet or exceed the expected turnaround times for all small package shipments. § Must give special attention given to expedited small packages and all Amazon shipments as Sales Orders “ORD” requests. o Process the orders thru the appropriate accounting and shipping software. § Provide all appropriate paperwork including Packing slips and Commercial invoices when needed. o Pull Will Calls accurately and notify the appropriate sale associate. o Printing and sort of all SO pick tickets. o Proactively communicate through your Shipping Supervisor with any small packaging concerns or questions. o Be present when the small packaging companies come to pick up their products. o Communicate with Shipping Supervisor and other team members on any back-order issues. Ensure items are approved for back order before just back ordering items. o Be prepared to use computers for different shipping aspects. · Responsible to help double count LTL shipments to ensure accuracy. o No pallets should leave the warehouse without being double counted. o Supervisor can adjust responsibilities if the volume for small packaging are too high.
