About The Position

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for preparing and sending test specimens to customers. This role plays an important part in how customers perceive the quality of testing services, as the returned specimens are often the only physical item they receive. In addition to managing outgoing shipments, the clerk oversees incoming deliveries, distributes received materials to the appropriate departments, and maintains an adequate supply of packaging materials.

Requirements

• Experience with shipping processes, packaging, and shipping software systems.
• Knowledge of inventory tracking and supply management.
• Basic computer skills including email and data entry.
• Ability to safely lift and move items weighing 50 pounds or more.

Nice To Haves

• Forklift certification or prior forklift operation experience.
• Background in a customer service position.

Responsibilities

• Receiving Shipments
• Inspect incoming deliveries for damage and report any issues.
• Record and track all received items.
• Ensure materials are delivered to the correct departments or personnel.
• Packing Materials Management
• Maintain organization of shipping and packing supplies.
• Monitor inventory levels and reorder materials as needed to avoid shortages.
• Packaging and Shipping
• Prepare, wrap, and package test specimens for shipment.
• Use carrier software systems to generate accurate shipping labels.
• Arrange carrier pickups when necessary.
• Customer Support
• Track shipments and resolve delivery issues when they arise.
• Document any additional costs such as tariffs or import fees.
• Communicate with customers and vendors via phone or email as needed.
• Maintain accurate shipping contact information and databases.
• Additional Duties
• Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.
