About The Position

Overview Summary: Responsible for ensuring cost effective, efficient and safe transportation and receipt of goods. Ensure that materials shipped and received are verified against pertinent documentation such as bills of landing, purchase orders and invoices. Coordinates and communicates with the Production Manager on all areas and facets of shipping/receiving, though out the day to ensure that all issues and customer service needs are met. Manages all company pickups and deliveries in provided vehicle by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • Must be proficient in MS Excel and Word
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
  • Ability to sort, check, count and verify numbers
  • Ability to receive, track, stock and distribute materials, supplies and equipment
  • Use basic measuring tools accustomed to this trade
  • Simple arithmetic
  • Knowledge of postal and commercial shipping methods and procedures
  • Records maintenance skills
  • Clean driving record
  • Able to drive a van and box truck
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Forklift certification
  • High School graduate or equivalent, one to three years related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity of aerospace customer specification and documentation requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all established quality management system procedures and work instructions as applicable
  • Issue purchase orders for outside process
  • Track lost and/or customer claims of lost shipments, initiates proof of delivery documents
  • Ensures product identification, handling, packaging, storage, and protection of all parts in area
  • Communicate with vendors and production control to monitor outside processes
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory and shipping materials
  • Packages and identifies parts
  • Delivers finished product to the customer
  • Issues and distributes material for production jobs
  • Prepares shipment for postal or commercial conveyance; determines the most cost-effective and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container and is responsible for proper packaging to ensure safe delivery
  • Prepares bills of lading, checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct
  • Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment and also verify proper paperwork and documents. Then also documenting all certification of hardware and material
  • Process return shipment from customers, for example RMA’s
  • Inspect shipments for damages or defects, records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel
  • Willing and able to work overtime including weekends when needed
  • Utilizes forklift to load, unload, move, and stack materials in a safe manner. Ensures load in vehicle is secure.
  • Prioritizes daily schedule utilizing the best route with the most efficient company provided vehicle.
  • Understands packaging standards to ensure safe transit of product.
  • Obtains proof of delivery.
  • Communicates with other departments regarding special shipping needs, quantity discrepancies or concerns of safe transit.
  • Verifies and compares manifest to actual box count and ensuring correct delivery location.
  • Assists other areas of the department during down time
