About The Position

Shipping associate is responsible to accurately interpret customer packaging instructions and specifications by pulling stock and packaging products in a timely manner. Will ensure all shipments are packaged properly to prevent damage while maintaining the integrity of the shipment. Ensure compliance with all federal and regulatory shipping and export requirements.

Requirements

  • Capable of working well independently and within attendance guidelines.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Ability to work occasional overtime.
  • Knowledge of warehouse/distribution areas of shipping, order filling and material control, AVIATION COMPONENT EXPERIENCE STRONGLY DESIRED.
  • Capable of learning how to operate and maintain packaging machinery.
  • Knowledge of good commercial packaging requirements, government specifications, and bar coding preferred. Familiar with the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Experience with general warehouse equipment forklift, pallet jack, wrap (forklift certification preferred) and distribution experience in areas of shipping, order filling and material control.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Is frequently required to talk or listen.
  • Works in moderate noise levels.
  • Minimal travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Packaging all products in an efficient and orderly manner in accordance with all shipping procedures, packing slips, order acknowledgements, and customer requirements to meet delivery schedule and maintain product quality.
  • Prepares outgoing orders for shipping, using UPS, FedEx, DHL systems as well as interactions with other shipping logistic companies.
  • Inspect products for defects and damages.
  • Occasional HAZMAT shipping may be required after receiving HAZMAT certifications.
  • Consolidation shipping may be required.
  • Maintains shipment status with ERP system and coordinates with quality and accounting per shipment requirements.
  • Maintain warehouse housekeeping per 5S methods.
  • Embrace/implement continuous improvement and lean principles in all activities.
  • Operate general warehouse equipment -- forklift, pallet jack, wrap, cherry-picker, etc.
  • Handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) for assigned accounts as required.
  • Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
  • Report any accidents or incidents that occur immediately to a supervisor.
  • Other duties that may be assigned.
