A, Bowie, MD 20715 Position Overview: As a Shipping and Receiving Specialist at PEAKE, you play a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods within our organization. Your responsibilities will include receiving incoming shipments, preparing outgoing orders, and maintaining accurate inventory records. Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality will be crucial in supporting our internal operations and optimizing warehouse efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
  • Proven experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with shipping software and inventory management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to lift and move heavy items and work in a warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders and ensuring accuracy.
  • Inspect shipments for damages or discrepancies and record any issues.
  • Sort, label, and distribute received goods to appropriate departments or storage locations.
  • Prepare outgoing shipments by picking, packing, and labeling items according to shipping requirements.
  • Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickups and ensure timely delivery of shipments.
  • Generate shipping documents, such as bills of lading and packing slips, and ensure compliance with shipping regulations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using computerized systems or manual logs.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate inventory shortages or excesses to management.
  • Organize and maintain warehouse storage areas to ensure efficient utilization of space.
  • Implement and maintain proper storage techniques to safeguard inventory integrity.
  • Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations
  • Conduct quality checks on incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure product integrity.
  • Report any quality issues or discrepancies to appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including purchasing, sales, and customer service, to coordinate shipping and receiving activities.
  • Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and customers to resolve shipment-related inquiries or issues.
