About The Position

Shipping and Receiving Material Handler Are you an experienced Forklift professional seeking a full-time position pursuing that passion? We are the nation's largest manufacturer of steel wire reinforcing products for concrete construction applications. We manufacture and market prestressed concrete (PC) strand and welded wire reinforcement, including engineered structural mesh, concrete pipe reinforcement, and standard welded wire reinforcement for concrete reinforcement applications. The company operates eleven manufacturing facilities in nine states. About You The person we are looking for has a knowledge of safety equipment and safety procedures for shipping/receiving operations. This person must possess a high attention to detail, be able to work closely with production employees, and safely operate equipment in a close-quarter shipping yard with various materials. Position Snapshot A Shipping/Receiving handler needs to be comfortable making inventory transfers in computer, moving materials (such as raw materials, finished product, etc.) in shipping areas using large forklift tractors. To be successful in this role you will:

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to complete simple forms and understand simple written instructions.
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
  • An equivalent combination of education and work-related experience may be acceptable
  • A minimum of two (2) years' forklift experience required in heavy material handling and moving responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Safely work in a high traffic area with pedestrians and other motor vehicles and material handling equipment
  • Safely load, unload, and stage materials throughout the shipping yard in a safe and orderly fashion
  • Visually check quality of finished product
  • Obtain pick slips and run ship confirms and bills of lading
  • Monitor inventory levels and determine discrepancies
  • Practice safe work habits to reduce risk to as low as reasonably achievable. Including adhering to strict PPE guidelines and learning safety standards for the facility and equipment.
  • Work effectively within a team environment
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned
