About The Position

The Shipper/Receiver Lead is a hands-on team leader responsible for overseeing daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety and logistics standards. With a strong background in warehouse operations and leadership, this individual plays a key role in coordinating staff, optimizing workflow, and maintaining inventory integrity. The Lead acts as the primary liaison between warehouse personnel, logistics partners, and internal departments.

Requirements

  • 4–7+ years of experience in shipping/receiving, including 1–2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, logistics, and shipping procedures (domestic and international).
  • Proficient in ERP/WMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and shipping software (UPS, FedEx, etc.).
  • Certified forklift operator with extensive equipment handling experience.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to manage team performance and coordinate cross-functionally.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, and support a team of shippers and receivers.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor performance to ensure targets are met.
  • Act as the point of contact for escalated issues in shipping, receiving, and inventory discrepancies.
  • Foster a team-oriented, safety-conscious, and results-driven environment.
  • Oversee the preparation, packing, and labeling of outbound shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, carrier requirements, and shipping schedules.
  • Approve shipping documentation such as bills of lading, packing lists, and customs forms.
  • Coordinate with freight carriers and logistics providers to schedule pickups and resolve transit issues.
  • Supervise unloading, inspection, and verification of incoming shipments.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate entry of received goods into inventory systems.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to damaged goods, overages, and shortages.
  • Monitor stock levels and support cycle counts, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Ensure proper tagging, storage, and documentation of all inventory movements.
  • Collaborate with inventory control teams to maintain accuracy and traceability.
  • Ensure shipping/receiving areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety protocols.
  • Operate and train others on material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and RF scanners.
  • Identify process improvements and help implement standard operating procedures (SOPs).
