JOB DETAILS Pay Rate: $23.76 - $30.42 per hour Shift: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Overtime as required The Lead Shipping & Loading Associate is responsible for tasks that are related to pulling, staging and loading orders for customers as well as maintaining finished goods, inventory and installation supplies. These tasks include, but are not limited to lifting, and carrying product, repackaging product, operating, and maintaining a forklift, operating a yard truck to move trailers, meeting deadlines, loading, and organizing trucks, processing, and distribution paperwork, yard/warehouse cleanliness & organization. Comply with and enforce all company safety policies to ensure accident-free facility, which includes, but is not limited to, assisting in identifying and correcting work area safety issues (STOP process), as well as conducting accident investigations as required Comply with quality standards required by the company and its customers Ensure that all drivers, specifically third-party drivers, comply with PPE requirements when not in their vehicle Ensure that trailers being loaded have capacity, condition, and capability to support the necessary load whether trailer is company owned, leased or property of third-party carrier Ensure that all products are properly loaded, secured, and identified on a trailer to prevent any safety incident while the load is transported to its destination Organize yard inventory in a manner that allows for the safest, quickest, and most efficient method for loading a trailer while maintaining inventory accuracy Load / unload trucks carrying steel coils from/to their proper storage along with proper labeling for identification Provide directions to team members to ensure key metrics are met accurately and in a timely manner Sustain manufacturing methods, such as 5S, Problem Solving, Visual Management, and KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) Ensure, through the Company’s on-boarding and peer mentoring programs, that associates are adequately trained to perform their jobs and properly mentored/trained in proper procedures and compliance Coordinate with front office to ensure all work is planned and paperwork is ready prior to the current day Interact with other departments and team members to achieve smooth timely shipping operation Work with maintenance to ensure all equipment is running at optimal levels for expected output and product quality Performs other related duties as required

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Must have experience with using computers, tablets, scanners and related equipment
  • Must have experience operating PIV equipment such as a forklift, side loader, overhead crane or yard truck
  • Must have experience safety using straps and banding equipment
  • Must have proficient computer skills to use ERP and logistics software
  • Understanding of the paperwork required to receive or ship product
  • No supervisory responsibilities are associated with this position
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
  • Mobility – Prolonged periods of time on feet, standing, bending, etc
  • Exposure – Moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and non-climate-controlled environment
  • Noise Tolerance – Noise levels may be high at times
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
