About The Position

Valiant is looking for a Shipping and Fleet Inventory Clerk to join our team! ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure all express package shipping requests received prior to daily scheduled carrier pick-up are processed and ready for shipment. Verify all outgoing packages have proper documentation before entering them into the automated shipping database. Ensure all ERDC outgoing shipments are processed through the prescribed automated shipping database identified by the Freight/Shipping Specialist. Respond to all customer inquiries concerning the status of shipments originating from the ERDC Vicksburg Site. Notify the Freight/Shipping Specialist when requests for the shipment of Hazardous Materials are received. Notify the Freight/Shipping Specialist when requests for international shipments are received. Verify that Declared Value Insurance is applied to shipments when requested by the customer. Maintain all shipping documentation in accordance with Army Regulation 25-400-2, The Army Records Information Management System (ARIMS). Review all outstanding shipping actions daily. Dispatch and inspect all vehicles that report to the motor-pool for monthly vehicle inspections. Use inspection checklist as mandated by the Fleet Manager to document vehicle dispatch and inspections. Drive operational vehicles to local vendors for accident estimates. Assist and liaise with the LMO TRN Office for GSA vehicle requests. Assist and liaise with the LMO TRN for Charter Bus Program requests. Coordination and Records Management for Vehicular Operators Licenses and Training in accordance to published policy/guidance. Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: Must obtain and maintain any necessary security access and/or background checks.
  • EDUCATION REQIREMENT: High School Diploma or GED; HAZMAT certified preferred
  • Experience with vehicle operations.
  • Experience with shipping packages all over the world.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Must be computer literate in order to retrieve data from the ERDC system, input data into Express Mail, commercial mail systems, and provide reports as required.
  • Available to travel 25% of the time.
  • Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy.
  • Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required. The expected driving time is 25-50%.
  • Position consists of sitting for short periods of time, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, lifting and carrying boxes, pouches and bags weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Frequently uses hands/fingers for handling and working with small objects.
  • Must be able to see up close and distinguish colors and patterns.

  • Knowledge of ERDC.
  • Familiar with customs forms and procedures.
