About The Position

Maintain Propulsion Diesel Engines, Diesel Engine Couplings, Clutches, Lubricating Oil Systems and associated components, combustion Air systems and associated components Maintain Power Generation Diesel Engines (Ship's Service and Emergency Diesel Engines for power generation). Lubricating Oil Systems and associated components, Combustion Air systems and associated components Perform Diesel Engine Routine Inspections, Ready-to-Start Inspections, Post-Repair Inspections and Formal Periodic Assessments (FPAs) in accordance with references 2.4, 3.6.4.5.1, and 3.6.4.54.2 (JFMM volume four (4), chapter four (4)), OPNAV Instruction 9220.3, and the U.S.Navy Diesel Engine Inspector Handbook S9233- CJ-HBK-010Plan) for all ships, submarines and aircraft carriers within SWRMC's AOR.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in general marine diesel maintenance experience in operations, maintenance, repair, or inspections
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
  • Possess Basic computer skills
  • Possess effective oral and written communication
  • Candidate personnel assigned to execute tasks on equipment must complete the following training or certifications:
  • Diesel Engine Inspections: Candidates must obtain prerequisites for DEI Course training within two (2) calendar years of providing direct support and successfully pass the course per reference 3.6.4.5.2 (DEI HDBK); and maintain certification.
  • Candidate personnel must be able to access and understand the content of the following references (at a minimum):
  • OPNAVINST 9920.3 Propulsion and Auxiliary Plant Inspection/inspector Cert Program
  • S9233-CJ-HBK-010F Diesel Engine Inspector Handbook
  • NAVSEA LETTER SER 05Z2/100, 21 Jul 2011 Diesel Engine Subject Matter Expert (SME) Technical Requirements
