We are seeking a Shift Technical Advisor to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex! This position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Responsibilities Providing the technical expertise to understand the approved safety basis for operations of the facility and to evaluate the impact of proposed changes/modifications on the safe operation of the facility. Serving as primary support team member for the Operations Manager and Shift Manager to ensure daily operations are safe, effective, and performed in accordance with approved procedures. Interfacing with support organizations to understand planned operations within the facility and ensure activities are in compliance with facility safety basis authorized work. Performing troubleshooting and improvement activities for emerging issues within the operations management scope of responsibility to resolve issues and improve effectiveness in implementation of compliance requirements. Serving in a project management role as needed for coordination of large, cross-cutting activities within the facility that involve multiple interfaces that cross organizational lines. Presenting technical briefings or presentations, as required, that describe and explain approved facility operations and compliance implementation methods. Evaluating proposed modifications or changes against the approved Documented Safety Analysis via the Unreviewed Safety Question. Determining process to ensure changes are within the scope and methods appropriate for the facility. Providing on-call coverage for assigned weekends based upon a rotation with others in the group; on-call is as needed which may or may not require weekend work for the assigned weekend. Requirements Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree and 15-20 years of relevant experience. Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work. Clearance – To be considered, you must have an active or very recently active DOE “Q” Clearance or DoD “Top Secret” Clearance. Q clearance with HRP is highly desired. Must have technical expertise to understand the approved safety basis for operations of the facility and to evaluate the impact of proposed changes/modifications on the safe operation of the facility. About the Site The NNSA's Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, is the nation’s only source of enriched uranium nuclear weapon components and provides enriched uranium for the U.S. Navy as well as excels in materials science, precision manufacturing, and stores enriched uranium.
