About The Position

We are looking for a Shift Supervisor - Production (Freeport, TX) to join our Petrochemicals team in Freeport, TX. Come create chemistry with us! The division manufactures and markets a broad portfolio of high-quality basic chemicals and tailored specialties for internal and external customers. As a Shift Supervisor – Production, reporting to the Production Manager, you will supervise the work activities of shift Production Technicians. In this role, you will lead the shift team to maintain a safe, compliant, and reliable plant that delivers the needs of the business, supporting EHS, Production, and Maintenance activities by providing leadership, optimizing production and processes, and driving performance management to develop a high-performing team. Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of three (3) years of experience in chemical plant operations.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills to direct technicians in producing quality chemicals safely and cost-effectively.
  • Have strong coaching and development skills to build technical and business understanding within the production team.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, including contractors and vendors.
  • Bring strong technical problem-solving skills to resolve operational issues impacting plant performance.
  • Have experience using SAP or similar computerized maintenance systems for entering and tracking maintenance work.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess a Sr. Technician status and qualification in the Acrylics technologies is preferred.
  • Have knowledge and experience with PSM and RCMS.

Responsibilities

  • Lead shift production activities in alignment with safe work practices, environmental compliance, quality standards, production targets, and housekeeping expectations, while monitoring plant performance to ensure optimization targets are met.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of shift personnel, including performance management, coaching, and development of Production Technicians to build a high-performing team.
  • Ensure safe and reliable plant operations by supporting EHS, Production, and Maintenance activities, including equipment preparation and readiness for maintenance and performing technician duties as needed.
  • Lead and participate in Management of Change (MOC), incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives to support operational excellence.
  • Direct shift activities during plant incidents or emergencies, serving as incident commander when required and making necessary equipment and process adjustments based on key performance indicators.
  • Ensure procedure compliance and continuous improvement, including supporting procedure updates and providing feedback and annual performance evaluations as part of the performance management process.
  • Support plant improvement efforts by providing input to strategic support teams and Learning & Development teams, identifying gaps and developmental needs for shift personnel.
  • Lead and participate in reliability reviews, root cause failure analysis, training activities, shift meetings, and execution of assigned tasks to ensure operational and safety objectives are achieved.
