The Shift Supervisor I is responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating all phases of mechanical and electrical operations of CTG power plant equipment to ensure continuous, safe, efficient, and economical operation. This includes ensuring personnel safety and asset protection, direct supervision of energy center co-workers and contractors on site, and compliance to all environmental, regulatory, and legal regulations and policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two or more years of relevant power plant experience required with Bachelors Degree; five or more years of relevant power plant required without degree, with preference given for operations experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline (e.g. engineering) preferred.
  • Five or more years of relevant heavy industrial experience may be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with power plant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the CTG units, and ensure units are available to meet needs of the bulk electric system.
  • Ensure CTG units follow dispatch instructions from Energy Management & Trading, and personnel follow all operating instructions for starting, stopping and meeting MW setpoint commands.
  • Supervise, train, appraise, and coordinate plant personnel in all CTG equipment operations and maintenance activities.
  • Plan and schedule work activities for plant personnel, including ordering of parts, materials, supplies, vendor support and plant WPA.
  • Continual assessment and ultimate responsibility for the health and condition of the CTG facilities and equipment.
  • Conservative operational decision making and asset protection.
  • Establish and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Coordinate with Energy Management & Trading on a daily basis regarding generation offers into the MISO Day Ahead and Real Time Energy markets.
  • Manage O&M and CapEx budget for all energy center expenses.
  • Assure plant compliance with environmental, regulatory, and legal policies and procedures.
