About The Position

Shift Supervisor, GPO manages a work group by providing guidance and direction to vocational employees. The incumbent is responsible for startup operation and shutdown of natural gas, LNG and vaporization facilities, M&R Stations, as well as associated auxiliary equipment throughout the plant, including but not limited to, the loading and unloading of cryogenic and/or flammable bulk liquid carriers, the emergency generating system, river water pumping system, boil-off compressors, LNG under-tank heating systems and boilers. In addition, this Shift Supervisor assists the Operations Supervisor in conducting work force planning, coaching, training, budget preparations, expense control and other administrative duties and is responsible for the overall quality of work for the group. Impact of decisions will be measurable within one month.

Requirements

  • Technical trade school certification, journeyman status in electrical, pipefitting, welding, instrumentation, or Associates degree in a relevant field of study
  • Must have 1 to 3 years relevant experience working in a utility plant, refinery, control room or operations management
  • Must have a City of Philadelphia Class "A" Engineer's license or the ability to obtain a license within two years
  • Must become very knowledgeable in city, state and federal regulations, codes, laws, and industry standards
  • Must have supervisory skills with the ability to create a professional and constructive environment that fosters a team-oriented r approach to day-to-day operations
  • Must have interpersonal/communications skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and maintain a high level of client trust and confidence
  • Must have the ability to effectively work under pressure while meeting established deadlines
  • Must have computer skills in with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and knowledge of Microsoft Project and Visio preferred.
  • Must be flexible with the ability to work a rotating shift
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License with a good driving record

Responsibilities

  • Train Process Operators in all facets of operations including but not limited to safety and fire-fighting processes, plant protection equipment, plant emergency response and periodically evaluates performance via proper documentation.
  • Assist Operation Supervisors to periodically review, update or develop operating procedures, simple process sketches, safety audits and various reports; occasionally performs gas purges to make process equipment and associated piping safe prior to maintenance activities; conducts safety audits throughout the plants and stations.
  • Ensure plant equipment is properly secured prior to maintenance activities, that Process Operators maintain proper control parameters, such as pressures, temperatures, flows, etc.; maintains city distribution pressures ensuring distributed gas is properly conditioned.
  • Monitor equipment operations and properly reports equipment maintenance needs; writes necessary shop requests and reports.
  • Ensure that all pertinent data and process information is properly logged and recorded; safe loading and unloading of LNG, liquefied nitrogen, liquefied ethylene, diesel fuel and high-pressure nitrogen trailers.
  • Coordinate subordinate work activities by developing project timelines, milestones and analyzing impact, determining priorities of activities, making work assignments, monitoring projects, and providing direction and assistance as needed.
  • Assess employee needs ensuring subordinates are properly trained and adhere to company policies, practices and procedures including collective bargaining agreement when applicable.
  • Evaluate and meets with subordinates to discuss work performance providing appropriate commendations and disciplinary actions to ensure employees are well equipped to meet and/or exceed job expectations.
  • Provide cost effective suggestions for process improvements in order to reduce maintenance budget expenditures.
  • Participate in the annual budget preparation process as needed or requested.
  • Keep abreast of current trends, equipment technology and best practices in equipment maintenance.
  • Perform other special projects and assignments as requested.
