Pay-for-performance means your pay is determined by how much of a product you produce or contribute to making. Average pay is $54 per hour plus our comprehensive benefits package. Shift:This position will be on a rotating, days continental (7a-7p) or nights continental (7p-7a) schedule. This will be determined by the hiring supervisor at offer time. Basic Job Functions:The Maintenance Mechanic will work closely with and support our Maintenance and Production Teams. Primary responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, installing, and commissioning plant equipment. The position will assist with projects for process improvements and provide technical service and support for operations.   Job duties also include performing equipment inspections and repairs, equipment alignments, execution of preventative maintenance measures, pneumatic system troubleshooting, hydraulic system maintenance, motors, pumps and various other mechanical systems for execution of overall improvements to the Fastener Division. Operation and maintenance of heavy equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and jib cranes will also be necessary. This position will use CMMS to complete work orders, research parts, and to schedule maintenance work.   The position will have primary responsibility for a specific area, but need to be willing and able to help in all areas as needed.   Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Two-year industrial maintenance degree (or currently pursuing one) OR five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Must be willing to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekends, and/or holidays as needed
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future.
  • Candidates must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding experience: MIG, TIG, ARC, and stainless-steel welding techniques
  • Previous Industrial Electrical Experience
  • Previous aerial lifts, mobile cranes, overhead cranes, and forklift operation
  • Experience using micrometers and other precision measuring tools along with blue print/drawing reading
