About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs, Cleveland Works has an immediate opportunity for a Shift Manager Mechanical Maintenance at the Cleveland, OH facility. The Shift Manager Mechanical Maintenance is a front-line supervisory position responsible for managing the day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities within the assigned area of responsibility to ensure a reliable, safe, and continually improved operation. Requirements

  • 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing/industrial environment or the military.
  • Must be able to work in a hot, dusty environment, including climbing stairs, ladders, and walking inclines.
  • Also, able to work/walk safely on uneven surfaces and outdoors in all weather.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3 years of mechanical maintenance experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in heavy industry or the military
  • Steel mill experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with a computer-based PM and/or equipment reliability program.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the maintenance of mechanical equipment and providing the day-to-day supervision of the Maintenance Technician Mechanics (MTMs) within assigned division.
  • Develop into a maintenance expert for the maintenance systems within assigned area.
  • Act as a coach to employees and ensure that they have the tools and knowledge required to safely perform their job.
  • Manage spending budget using project management skills, and a thorough understanding of the processes needed to properly maintain the equipment within assigned area.
  • Interact with Purchasing, Operations, Maintenance, Op Tech/Continuous Improvement, Accounting, Engineering, Vendors and Suppliers and counterparts from other plants.
  • Develop a maintenance strategy that would ensure a high level of equipment reliability.
  • Weekends and shift work may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
