About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for Shift Manager Maintenance at Hibbing Taconite in Hibbing, MN. As a Shift Manager, you will direct and coordinate safe production at the Plant. They will be responsible for coordinating daily activities in the operation site, supervising hourly crews and improving overall efficiency by proper utilization of the resources and all their components. They will ensure the reliability of the mechanical equipment through preventative maintenance and directing maintenance personnel as needed in response to breakdowns. Requirements

  • 2-year degree in technical field or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of recent experience at a mining/mineral processing facility or heavy industry, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills such as team building and conflict resolution are required.
  • Willingness to promote team concepts and company policies.
  • Ability to motivate, delegate, establish, and work in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24-hour coverage, 7 days per week.
  • Regular attendance is an essential requirement.
  • Must be able to physically perform all these responsibilities safely: walk on uneven surfaces, climb equipment, operate pickup, and other small fleet vehicles, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules routine activities.
  • Supervises completion of work assignments and follows established department plans
  • Maintains general discipline of the crew in meeting the daily production, safety and quality objectives.
  • Instructs personnel in job requirements, company rules and practices
  • Coordinates production and maintenance activities with different departments, assists in developing continuous improvement plans
  • Monitors site's operation, adheres to safety, environmental, quality, and productivity performance standards and performs regular audits
  • Leads employees' training and performance review programs.
  • Improves overall production, processes and services efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned
