Duties: Responsible for the safety, quality, and production of assigned crew/shift by providing direction and leadership to the hourly workforce and the Hot End supervisor. Identify training gaps and communicate them to area team leader. Focus on employee expectations and accountability to improve ownership. Ensure all SOP's are followed. Will become HAZWOPER IC trained and act as IC during emergencies. Responsible for investigation of all safety incidents on their crew and communication to the Leadership Team. Responsible for troubleshooting all quality issues on their crew and communication to the Leadership Team. Responsible for ensuring all OOS product is quarantined and creation of MRB’s for OOS product. Responsible for shift reconciliation. Must communicate yield losses from budget on previous shift and implement changes to improve current shift. Check on adherence to production schedule and make corrective actions to minimize yield losses. Communicate any required SOP changes to the appropriate area team leaders. Consult team leaders and area mangers regarding department priorities. Communicate and execute plans developed by area team leaders. Support Hot End Supervisor and other area leaders as needed. Oversee training for these individuals as needed. Coordinate and prioritize 5S/SWP activities. Ensure that employees are provided opportunities for training on various tasks and communicate training gaps to area team leaders. Responsible for manpower utilization, employee productivity, auditing and enforcing all company/facility rules, procedures, safety policies, environmental, quality, employee relations, and operational systems. Monitor yield losses and key performance indicators frequently throughout the shift and ensure process adjustments are made as required to meet or exceed budget yield targets. Contact appropriate area team leaders/process improvers or group leaders as needed to resolve issues quickly. Ensure all equipment is performing as required and meeting production requirements. Ensure equipment is tested and ready for use. Follow-up with appropriate department if not satisfactory Selection Criteria: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work related experience Knowledge of all plant operations – Hot End, Cold End and Materials Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent planning and organizational skills Demonstrated leadership and people skills Knowledge of Microsoft applications Detail oriented Demonstrated ability in innovative, developing and results oriented competencies Relationships: The incumbent will report to the Shift Manager Team Leader. The incumbent will maintain positive working relationships with other departments and site team members. The incumbent will maintain positive working relationships with all corporate functions (planning, finance, safety, quality, engineering, R&D, ME, etc). The incumbent has the organizational freedom to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity relating to product, process, and/or the quality system, identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and the quality system. This includes the authority to adjust throughput in order to achieve consistent production performance. The incumbent also has the authority to initiate, direct, and implement 5s activities throughout the plant. The incumbent may control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected. Maintains compete and thorough communications with hourly personnel, Coating Engineers, Hot End process Engineers, Plant scheduling, purchasing, security, maintenance, quality, cutting and glassmaking departments as required to maintain daily production operations at optimum levels.
