About The Position

The Shift Maintenance Foreman leads maintenance operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and environmentally compliant operation of plant equipment by coordinating maintenance activities, supervising hourly personnel, and responding to urgent operational needs. The role is critical to minimizing downtime, supporting continuous production, and executing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies. Shift: DuPont Schedule (3 on, 3 off, 7 on, 7 off) and will cover days as well as night shifts.

Requirements

  • Hands-on maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, turbines, and piping.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in pulp, paper, power generation, or utilities operations.
  • Previous experience leading maintenance personnel on a shift basis.
  • Proficiency with SAP CMMS and Microsoft Excel.
  • Maintenance or safety-related certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct maintenance activities during assigned shifts.
  • Lead and support a team of hourly maintenance employees, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to standard.
  • Assign work orders, prioritize tasks, and coordinate resources to meet production needs.
  • Maintain reliability and performance of turbines, piping systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on uptime and equipment life cycle.
  • Oversee maintenance activities related to wastewater treatment and environmental systems.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company sustainability objectives.
  • Escalate environmental risks or deviations promptly.
  • Enforce safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Conduct job safety analyses, toolbox talks, and shift safety meetings.
  • Promote and model a zero-incident safety culture.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance plans during the shift.
  • Coordinate emergency and breakdown repairs to minimize operational impact.
  • Provide accurate shift handovers and status updates to incoming crews.
  • Ensure availability of spare parts and tools for scheduled and emergent work.
  • Coordinate with storeroom personnel to manage critical inventory usage.
  • Utilize SAP to manage work orders, confirm labor, and document completed maintenance.
  • Use Excel or similar tools for basic reporting, tracking downtime, and shift metrics.
