About The Position

As a Shift Leader, you will lead shifts—opening or closing the shop, delegating tasks, setting the pace, and keeping service smooth–while delivering excellent hospitality so that every customer and team member leaves happy. You bring mastery of the Scooper role, represent our brand with confidence in every interaction, and elevate standards on every shift. Your positive attitude and leadership inspires the mooncrew on every shift, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team that lives Molly Moons’ values and elevates the customer experience. You’re a true partner to the Shop Manager and fellow Leads—lifting the mooncrew, sharing wins, and keeping the store performing at its best. When you’re in-store, you also serve as the shop’s on-call lead to keep everything humming.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • 6+ months as a Scooper at Molly Moon’s OR 3+ months prior leadership experience.
  • Strong performance in hospitality, efficiency, attendance, reliability, and teamwork.
  • Able to remain calm and kind under pressure.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand 5-8 hours per shift.
  • Late night availability (shifts scheduled until midnight).
  • Available for at least two closing weekend shifts (Friday-Sunday).
  • Summer (Jun 1-Aug 31): available 25+ hrs/week; minimum 4 shifts/week.
  • Fall/Winter (Sep 1-May 31): available 20+ hrs/week; minimum 3 shifts/week.
  • Must provide on-call coverage up to 3 shifts/week.
  • Occasionally work in or pick up shifts at other locations.
  • No planned absences longer than 7 days from June 1-August 31.

Responsibilities

  • Model kind, consistent hospitality every and ensure every customer feels seen.
  • Share product and company knowledge confidently.
  • Recover customer experiences and document notable incidents.
  • Support portion accuracy and product quality.
  • Prepare waffle cones, brownies, batter, and whipped cream.
  • Uphold health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure opening and closing checklists are completed.
  • Hold shop keys and follow cash/security protocols.
  • Maintain calm service during rushes.
  • Operate Square POS successfully: run reports, troubleshoot issues, and process special transactions (ex: discounts, returns, and comps).
  • Lead shifts; assign tasks and breaks.
  • Provide actionable coaching to team members.
  • Communicate priorities and updates to the team and the next captain.
  • Model strong Slack communication habits.
  • Solve real time problems and escalate when needed.
  • Serve as the on-call lead up to 3 shifts/week.
