About The Position

We have an immediate opening for a Shift Lead to oversee daily production activities during the second shift, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This role serves as the primary point of contact for second shift employees, providing leadership, direction, and support while maintaining production schedules and company standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • At least 1 to 2 years in a production role along with 1 year of lead experience, preferably in a production environment
  • Previous experience preferred working in an environment that operated with continuous improvement initiatives and KPI’s to measure performance
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to make presentations and interact effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when observing dehydration process on dryer
  • Ability to safely lift materials, boxes, tools, equipment, and other necessary items
  • Ability to manage time effectively and multitask
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions
  • Excellent recordkeeping, documentation, and facility housekeeping skills
  • Safety First! – Always practice safe behaviors, compliance with job-specific and ECOS safety programs/guidelines, “Accident Prevention” and “Lead-By-Example” approach to safety, wear required PPE, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the proper labeling, filling, and packaging of product as it passes the production line
  • Assisting line employees as necessary to maintain an efficient pace while ensuring quality and safety; performing work on the line, as needed
  • Evaluating performance of the production line workers and rotates on a consistent basis (every one to two hours, as needed) to ensure all safety guidelines are met and cross training occurs on a regular basis
  • Completing day by hour worksheets, ensuring the numbers are valid/accurate and efficiently entered on-time each hour
  • Recording scrap and gives to Production Supervisor/Plant Manager at end of each shift
  • Performing safety checks as instructed by Production Supervisor and Safety Coordinator on a weekly basis
  • Assisting in entering information into Deacom, using scanner to input production
  • Handling product changeovers to ensure that line stations are ready for next product run with correct laser printers, labels, filling heads, etc., as well as capable personnel
  • Ensuring all product has the proper container, cap, and carton by inspecting the work completed by line
  • Ensuring bottles, caps, cartons, and filling equipment is neat and clean
  • Making sure UV light is on and running properly and ensures sanitary regulations are met
  • Ensuring all caps are securely fastened and product is filled to the proper level
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment and escalate issues as needed
  • Reports equipment problems and/or failures to Production Supervisor, Plant Manager and Maintenance immediately, following up to ensure an appropriate resolution is met
  • Reports employee issues to Plant Manager, Production Supervisor or Human Resources immediately, following up to ensure an appropriate resolution is met
  • Directs the cleaning of all equipment at the end of shift and/or during work hours, as necessary
  • Ensures recycled items are placed into correct bin according to standards and educates employees on proper recycling techniques
  • Ensures components being returned to stock after fill run is counted, re-packaged, and identified with proper lot number to support material handling and storage. If necessary, assist line workers & material handlers with this task.
  • Participates in cross-training activities to ensure knowledgeable on all production lines
  • Serves as lead and point of contact for all concerns that arise during second shift, contacting Plant Manager and/or Production Supervisor if an urgent issue arises
  • Ensures building is securely locked and alarm is set at end of shift
  • Handles other special projects and requests, as needed
